Units Covered this year:
I) Numbers Sense II) Shapes & Space III) Patterns & Relations IV) Stats & Probability
Assessment: This year we will be assessing the success of students by determining if they have met the outcomes provided in the course curriculum. Through the types of assessment listed above students will show if they have mastered the skills taught in the class. The following 4 point scale will be used to show a student’s understanding of a concept.
|
Students will show their mastery though the following methods: Tests, Quizzes and Projects
·
Students may have the opportunity to rewrite some assessments depending on the circumstances involved. The final decision will be Mr. Hamby’s, but every student will be given an opportunity to succeed as long as they show that they have the attitude needed. **In order to re-write a test you will have to bring back your original test corrected.
Paper or laptops? It is your choice whether you bring a laptop for your work, some times it may make some concepts easier. It is your choice but be sure that you choose the right tool, blaming the tool you used is not an acceptable excuse for not finishing the work!
Portfolios: You will have a binder in the class to store all of your paper assessments, so you can check back to see where you need extra help.

Pretests & Goal Sheets
This year students will be completing their pre-tests electronically using Google forms, doing this will allow a relatively quick response regarding what they know in the form of an e-mail. In addition to this students will be making goals based on their pre-assessment results once they have discussed them with a classmate. Below are the steps and links:
Step #1 - Complete the correct pre-assessment, tell Mr. Hambly and check your e-mail for your results
Step #2 - Find a classmate your feel comfortable with and discuss your results, what you need to work on how your going to improve
Step #3 - Together with that classmate enter that information into the correct goal setting Google Form.
